Work it Out: Movie Reviews

Submitted by PointyEaredPri… on

Work it Out #1: pick two good books/movies that present love as "giving," and two bad ones that show confusion of love as "using." Be creative and suggest ways the writers could fix the bad ones so that they are moral and more helpful to society. Alright! Let's do some movie reviews, starting with the two good ones: (and a big thank you to my family for suggestions!)

Princess Bride

This really got me thinking. We love The Princess Bride, and I knew that Wesley really loved Buttercup, but I didn't stop to think about it this deep before.

In the end, I think it's his selflessness. In the book, Buttercup admits: "All I've ever done is scorn you and degrade you and taunt you," but Wesley stuck around. If he was only doing this for himself, he wouldn't have stayed. He would have said: "okay, beautiful or not, she's not worth this! I'm outta here!"

Attacked by Tolerance article

This article tells how advocates for same sex “marriage” brutally attacked defenders of the traditional family. Ironically, the tolerance always promoted by homosexuals, is not returned by them if you don’t agree. It’s a case of: we are loving and will tolerate anything, but only if it aligns with our thinking. And: we have open minds and will accept everyone for who they are, unless they do not promote what we want. This is illogical and remarkably biased. It’s almost as if they are redefining the word “tolerance” to mean what they want.
