Alright, guys,
I guess I'll start the discussion by saying that the intro on page 54 was pretty awesome. It warms the reader up with a joke, lowering mental defenses raised by the word "chastity" and allowing the meaning of the passage to really sink in.
Another thing I liked about this reading was the ending, with that line "But love is not about comfort and convenience." You've probably all heard it before, but loving means making yourself vulnerable. And that means that the other person can hurt you. It's not exactly what I would call comfortable. And convenient relationships are just the worst, so the second part of the line makes sense too.
In the end, though, are the risks and rules worth it for real love?
Yeah.
I think they are.
Totally agree with you! I like how they went in depth on how chastity frees us to love (the part about the couple fearing that chastity will kill their love, when really the sacrificial love involved in chastity helps them grow closer). I also loved the ending quote from the husband... at first I had trouble following through all the details he listed, but when I saw the end, I went back and read it with a new light. This was the quote about all the things it takes to win the battle, yet love isn't afraid of these things because love IS these things.
