Tips for Responding to Objections

Class dates: 5/6/18 and 5/20/18

  1. Develop your understanding by reviewing the cheatsheets from class.
  2. Invite questioner to pray with you – ex: “may the Holy Spirit lead us into all truth”
  3. Keep focus on finding the truth, not on winning the argument.
  4. Stay on topic – one topic at a time. Get an answer before moving on.
  5. Ask questions! (See the Effective Apologetics handout. Other examples: How do you know what books belong in the Bible? How can you prove it is inspired / infallible?)
  6. Consider what is true and untrue about claims. Agree where you can.
  7. Use logic and history in addition to the Bible. Are there fallacies involved?
  8. Check the context of any Scripture quoted.
