Engaging the Culture with the Fullness of Truth
The Catholic Church is a bulwark of sanity and reason in a culture that is increasingly in danger of losing not only its moral compass, but its rationality. This class, recommended for high-school students in grades 11-12, will explore the soundness, integrity, and depth of Catholic teaching on matters of essential import to every facet of our lives: springs of living water to cleanse away the shallow, fragmented, and ultimately insane counter-claims of the world. Our primary topic will be the Theology of the Body, in an age-appropriate adaptation that applies this profound teaching not only to marriage, but also to vocations, celibacy for the Kingdom, and living in the freedom of God's children. We'll also investigate the underlying disconnect between cultural belief and reality, and practice applying logic and critical thinking to the major issues and cultural challenges of our time.
This class is the first half of a two-semester course. We meet online weekly on Mondays at 11am Central time, beginning September 8.
